This mezcal is produced in San Dionisio Ocotepec by the Martínez family, mezcal producers since 1942, led by Mr. Ignacio Martinez and his wife, Carmela Molina, both master mezcaleros who complement each other to create this unique drink.

“I felt motivated to create an organic mezcal and contribute to the protection of our Mother Earth; now more than ever, we must make every effort to take care of her. This is my small contribution to help the world.” Alejandra Flores.
My maternal mother has always been one of the people I have most admired. One of the biggest inspirations I’ve ever had in my life. A strong, brave, independent, positive, hard-working lady. Originally from Matatlan, Oaxaca, she was an Indigenous woman who overcame many challenges throughout her life.
Feeling proud to carry her Oaxacan blood and being a woman just like her, one day I found myself dreaming of paying tribute to her somehow. This is when I got the idea of creating mezcal MáYú and at the same time, letting the world know what her beautiful land has to offer.
What a great way to remember her through this unique drink from Oaxaca, a magical and delicious elixir with an exceptional flavor, comparable to the best spirits in the world. It is also a tribute to all Mexican women, who just like my grandmother, progress by themselves. It is with great pride that we present the organic mezcal MáYú, in honor of Grandma Mendez, all the empowered women and our Mother Earth!

The production is artisanal, using the regional espadín agave which is cooked in an underground conic oven, grinded with tahona stone pulled by a horse, naturally fermented inside wooden vats and undergoing a two distillation process.
